Franklin County Saddle Club
SUPREME COWBOY COMPETITON

MAY 30th-31st, 2009

On behalf of the Franklin County Saddle Club we thank you for your interest in this event.  If you have had an opportunity to watch Craig Cameron's Extreme Cowboy Race on RFD TV, then you have a pretty good idea of what's going to happen.

Riders will be required to complete a series of maneuvers and obstacles.  The entire course will be timed.  Judging Criteria is: Horsemanship, Cadence, Control, Horse’s Attitude, and Overall Execution.  Although the course is timed, it is often the horse and rider team who takes the course in a steady, calculated approach that comes out “on top”.  We are looking for the Supreme Working Horse and Rider Team.  The course will cover approximately 5 acres. A total of 14 obstacles and 4 maneuvers will be required for completion.  The course is designed to test all skill levels.

Youth riders will start the two day event (depending on how many riders sign up to ride) on Saturday morning at 9:00am.  When the Youth have finished their goes, the two Non-Pro divisions will start theirs.  Pro riders will start their goes at 9:00am on Sunday morning followed by the Junior and Senior horse classes. The Youth division and both Non-Pro class awards will be given out on Sunday due to the fact that some Youth and Non-Pro riders may have also entered the Junior or Senior Horse classes as a second ride.

Divisions are as follows:

Youth:  Ages 14 through 18 (as of January 1st)

Non-Pro(1):  Person who has not taken remuneration for training horses –Age 19 thru 39 (as of January 1st)

Non-Pro(2):  Person who has not taken remuneration for training horses – Age 40 & over  (as of January 1st)

Professional:  Person who has taken remuneration for training horses – All Ages

Junior Horse:  Horse must be 5 & under (foaled in/after 2004) - Open to all breeds

Senior Horse:  Horse must be 6 & over (foaled in/before 2003) - Open to all breeds

Due to the number of riders expressing an interest in the competition and time limitations of only one horse and rider team on course at any one time, entry is by pre-registration only.  Teams will be accepted on a first come first serve basis.  The cut-off date for registration is May 21st at 5:00pm.

All entry fees and stall rental fees will be due no later than Thursday May 21st.  If fees are not received by the cut-off date and time, the next rider and horse team in line will be given the opportunity to fill your open spot.  Each registration form will be assigned a number in the order it is received.  There will be email communication with each rider as we get close to the closing dead line as to your standing.

There will be a walk through the course at approximately 8:00am Saturday morning.  The course will be posted at the entry gate and show office at 7:30am Saturday morning. There will be another walk through at 8:00am Sunday morning, due to the changes in Trail Obstacles.  The course also will be posted at the gate and show office at 7:30am Sunday morning

AWARDS:  40% of your entry money will be jackpotted back in each class.  That jackpot shall be split amongst the top three high scoring rider-horse teams in each class 60%-30%-10%.  This includes the Youth Class.

REFUND POLICY:  All fees are non-refundable after 5:00pm Monday, May 21, 2009.  Only if you present a written letter by June 5th, 2009 from your doctor or your veterinarian stating you or your horse is/was unable to be ridden through the course will an exception be made.

All spectators are welcome.  There will be a Food and Drink Concession on the grounds, supplied by “The Cook Shack” from Kennewick....Mmmm... Good Food!
